PS5 Exclusive Ghost of Yōtei Now Runs on PC, But Only 2 FPS

Ghost of Yōtei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima created by Sucker Punch and released exclusively for PS5 in October 2025, took a step that few expected so soon, as the game is already running on PC with SharpEmu, an experimental PS5 emulator developed by programmer Foued, who managed to push it to the playable portion, with the world loaded in 3D and the protagonist moving, although for now at less than 2 FPS, making it clear that it is still far from playable but marking a significant milestone in the race to bring PS5 games to PC.

The feat gains even more significance when considering that Ghost of Yōtei has no official PC version, and that according to a March report from Bloomberg, PlayStation is altering its strategy with exclusives and reducing the number of titles it brings to PC, which makes emulation the only path, at least for now, to see this title outside the console.

How they manage to move Ghost of Yōtei on PC

SharpEmu is a PS5 emulator built from the ground up, and its progress has been rapid; in July it barely managed to display the intro screen of Ghost of Yōtei before crashing, whereas now it can load the game’s world and allow the protagonist to traverse the scene.

The developer Foued himself demonstrated the progress on October 9, explaining that “the video is accelerated. The rendering is still inconsistent, with some frames looking fine while others show visual glitches. I’m focusing on fixing these issues first, then I’ll tackle performance,” and the on-screen counters in his videos show the game running at around 0.6 to 1.2 FPS.

A little more than a day later, the creator announced that he had resolved that graphical issue after a long day, saying that “it’s 4 a.m., I’ve been working on this problem all day, but it’s finally solved. I’m exhausted,” so his next objective would be to improve performance, the major hurdle remaining for Ghost of Yōtei to be truly playable on PC.

A race to bring PS5 to PC

This advance adds to a sequence of milestones in recent weeks that have brought PS5 titles closer to PC through different avenues, such as AnyPS5, which managed to run its first PS5 game on PC at 60 FPS without an emulator, a method that translates the games instead of emulating the console, or the programmers who managed to run the PS5 interface on a PC.

Unlike AnyPS5, SharpEmu follows the path of traditional emulation, which aims to imitate the complete operation of the console, a more demanding approach but one that, if it continues to progress at this pace, could open the door to many more PS5 games on PC in the future.

For now, Ghost of Yōtei on PC is a technical demonstration more than a viable way to play it, but the leap from a splash screen to moving the character in a few months demonstrates how rapidly PS5 emulation is advancing.
